Gem Appoints New Chief Commercial Officer
Blockchain platform provider Gem has hired David George as its Chief Commercial Officer. George will be responsible for all aspects of business development, sales and marketing at the Silicon Beach-based company. George has 23 years of experience in commercial strategy for enterprise software and critical growth stage start-ups, and has worked in cloud services, SaaS, security, digital identity, and healthcare platforms.
George remarked: “Gem is uniquely positioned to introduce this technology to a variety of different industries. The team is forward-thinking and visionary, but with an extreme focus on making our customers and partners successful. During my tenure in technology I have developed global growth strategies in both start-up and Fortune 10 environments driving revenue creation, product development, policy, and marketing. My role at Gem will pull from all of these experiences to deliver our solutions across a global audience in a hyper growth environment… It’s an amazing opportunity with a great team and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
In early 2016 Gem closed a $7.1 million in Series A funding and has reported rapid growth. In April, it announced its first enterprise customer with Philips Blockchain Lab. Gem’s next key hire will be for the Chief Operations Officer role, a position for an experienced operations executive with a co-founder mentality. George will make his first public appearance as Chief Commercial Officer at the Distributed:Health conference in Nashville, TN on October 3, 2016. Gem is the title sponsor of the event, a conference exploring innovation in healthcare.
Micah Winkelspecht, CEO of Gem, said:, “Gem is excited to have David’s experience driving our commercial efforts. His insight and energy will be invaluable as we prepare our team and technology for critical growth.”
