Steem Set to Expand Services

Blogging website Steem, where users are rewarded for interesting or popular posts with cryptocurrency, seems set to extend its services beyond simple posting. Now that it is up and running with its currency – the steem dollar – Steem has, in the works, a plan to include a marketplace, along the lines of OpenBazaar and eBay. This will no doubt generate even more interest in the platform but private messaging will need to be implemented before this happens to allow users to exchange personal details securely.

In the future, Steem expects to bring smart contracts and side chains into the fold after the currency and marketplace have been established. It has been stated that the platform will have no fees, allowing a multitude of apps to be developed.

Many people with an interest in cryptocurrencies are becoming involved in the Steem scene as it also has the potential to get the general populace interested and involved, which is key to the success of new technology. Merging blogging, trading and cryptocurrency may prove to be a killer combo.
