Romania-based decentralized marketplace MaskNetwork has announced the alpha-release launch of testnet, which will be used by the community to experiment with the features of MaskNetwork before participating in the project. Opportunities available to be tried include multi-signatures, an integrated escrow system and other technical properties of the platform.
The anonymous peer to peer, distributed marketplace-come-social-network was announced in July 2015, and combines per-to-peer networking, decentralised advertising, messaging and a network level escrow system. In this initial phase, the testnet includes full support for sending and receiving transactions, addresses security options and messaging amongst other things. MaskNetwork is the completely web-based so no downloading is necessary to start participating. Access is granted via a web node: a website that gives access to the network features like sending transactions or messages. It is by far the easiest method of using the network. This also allows money to be earned as web node operators can impose a fee on all transactions.
A spokesman for MaskNetwork told AllCoinsNews:
MaskNetwork is using MaskCoin as a medium of exchange. MaskCoin has nothing to do with bitcoin. Its 100% new code. We use a modified version of POW and it’s 1% premined.
The network is based on web nodes and anyone can operate a web node. Right now there are 6 participating web nodes
The spokesman did not reveal how MaskCoin, with a proof-of-work algorithm, is different from bitcoin. The current participating web nodes are the six online wallets offered by MaskNetwork, HiddenWallet.org, MaskPlace.net, MaskWallet.com, MaskCentral.info, CoinCenter.info and HiddenMarket.info. All are apparently available for use through the testnet.
