Blockchain-based cloud storage company, Storj Labs, today revealed that AB Periasamy has become a member of the startup’s Technical Advisory Board.
AB Periasamy is the CEO and Co-Founder of Minio.io, an object storage firm inspired by Amazon S3 and Facebook Haystack. He is a a venture advisor to Nexus Venture Partners, and the former CTO and Co-founder of Gluster, an open source storage operating system purchased by Red Hat in 2014.
Storj CEO Shawn Wilkinson commented: “We’re extremely pleased to have AB join our team as we release the world’s first crowdsourced cloud storage platform.”
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Storj utilizes blockchain technology to incentivize decentralized storage. Its cloud
storage platform is a marketplace for cloud storage, and users can leverage excess storage capacity by offering it
for sale on Storj’s marketplace. The currency of the marketplace is SJCX, Storj’s proprietary cryptocurrency.
The startup was mentioned in Needham Co’s recently published, “The Blockchain Report: Welcome to the Internet of Value”.
In June 2015, Minion.io raised $3.3 million in funding round led by General Catalyst Partners and Nexus.
