Barcelona will, from October 5th to 8th, host Blockchain Week, a gathering of leading experts in blockchain technology to discuss the leading use cases for the disruptive technology.
The conference has four tracks that have significant applicability for blockchain technology, namely Internet of Things, Ecommmerce & Retail, Trading, and Digital Currency Summit.
The organizer of Blockchain Week, Alex Puig, launched the Digital Currency Summit in Andorra last year and held another summit in Madrid earlier this year.
Puig is also the program manager of startup accelerator, Block Chain Space, which held a series of blockchain workshops in European cities this summer.
The Barcelona-based entrepreneur seems even more ambitious with Blockchain Week, with the aim of triggering conversation between opinion leaders from different industries, leading experts, technologists, entrepreneurs and investors in the blockchain space. He adds:
Blockchain Week is not only a place to learn about Blockchain Technology applications in Finance, IoT, Retail and Trading, it is also an event where mainstream companies can engage collaboration discussion with Bitcoin startups. An event to learn, network and do business.
Here are the name of a few of the companies represented at Blockchain Week : BBVA, Worldline, RBS, RaboBank, Banco de Sabadell, Ingenico, Accenture, Everis, IBM, Santander, Telefónica, Google.
Among the speakers are Puig’s partners in Block Chain Space, Coinsilium CEO Eddy Travia, who will discuss investments in Blockchain startups, and CTO Hakim Mamoni, who will introduce how Block Chain Space will provide education and startup acceleration in Barcelona later in the year.
The objective of these blockchain tech conferences, workshops and events organized by Puig and his partners is to explain the new technology and discuss the potential impact of cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin, in different industries. Research reports from major consulting practices, banks and large technology companies, many of them attending Blockchain Week, have found that blockchain technology will play a pivotal role in the transformation of industries such as ecommerce and retail, IoT, trading and finance.
Blockchain Week culminates with the Digital Currency Summit, a forum for training and discussion where attendees can learn more about or discover digital currencies.
